July 3 – International Plastic Bag free day

Let’s celebrate this International Plastic Bag free day by not using plastic, and encourage others to not use plastic bags as well!

By reducing the consumption of plastic bags, you:

– Protect sea and land animals from eating plastics that will cause suffering from intestinal problems or by being poisoned either by the chemicals used to create the bags, or from chemicals that the plastic has absorbed while making its way through the environment.

– Help to prevent clogged sewage systems and flooding. Runoff water collects and carries discarded plastic bags and ultimately washes them into storm sewers, once in the sewers, the bags form clumps with other types of debris, and block the flow of water. This prevents runoff water from properly draining and causes flooding. And often times end up in the Ocean.

– Protect the soil from getting polluted.

These are just a few reasons. By not using plastic bags, you also help with waste management. In Bali, the ROLE Foundation has been inspiring many guests, for both tourists and school groups, by their zero-waste programs. What they do is vitally important, please click here to learn more. You can also support their programs here .

Let’s inspire others to make the Earth a better place for us right now and for our future generations!
